Why working with me is different -
I have an unconventional approach to therapy. I use Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), a therapy designed by the highly acclaimed Marisa Peer (I was trained directly by her) which helps people obtain long-lasting life-changing results quickly. While I've had great success employing the techniques of traditional psychotherapy, with a leaning toward cognitive behavioral techniques always, it is when I began using RTT that I saw big, impactful changes happening in my clients, in much shorter periods of time.
I've had people say "Wow, I feel I've had a huge release," "I feel like a shift has taken place within me," "I feel an amazing sense of calm," "I now feel as though everything is aligned" as a result of their RTT sessions, and over time, the symptoms they were struggling with fade.
I've worked largely with people who have suffered for a long time with anxiety and depression but I'm also working those who don't necessarily have a diagnosis, they're feeling stuck or blocked - by fear, shame, guilt, lack of confidence, lack of trust or patience, lack of focus, physical aches and pains, phobias, stress and sometimes excess weight.
What is RTT?
Rapid Transformational Therapy is a hybrid therapy, combining principles and techniques of Hypnosis, NLP and Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy. It produces a transformative effect using trance and deep relaxation, regression, and hypnotic conditioning.
As the client, you will work with me to uncover the meaning and interpretation of events and then we work to change that interpretation. This leads to powerful changes within you.
During RTT, you are in a relaxed state, however, you remain awake and alert. You are aware of everything that is happening throughout the session and you can't be made to do anything against your will. If I say something that is inaccurate, you have complete power to correct me. This process is tailored to you and I am there to facilitate you.
Does it work with everyone?
I only work with clients who report that their level of commitment to change is at least an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the greatest level of commitment). I need to know that you are as invested in being helped as I am invested in helping you (my level of commitment to helping you will always be 10+). RTT is not recommended for those who suffer from epilepsy or for those who have been diagnosed with a severe psychotic illness.
What are people saying about RTT?
"It's challenging to put into words the tremendous impact that Laurie’s RTT session has had on my life. I came to Laurie with two issues that I hoped to address, pain in my arms from tendonitis and stress related to my business. I had never been hypnotized before and wasn't sure what the process would entail and was not confident that it would “work.” I am blown away by the results! I have had tendonitis in my arms for years from typing. I have tried physical therapy, massage, myofascial release, braces, and vitamins. Laurie’s RTT has had the most positive impact of any method I have tried by far! I can’t believe how much work I can do now without pain. In terms of my business stress, I have experienced a tremendous shift and the stress that I was feeling has been lifted. Laurie’s combination of RTT along with her experience as a therapist creates such a warm, loving, trusting environment for the entire process. I love listening to her soothing voice every night and the words are now positive voices in my head. One session of RTT with Laurie has taken the place of years of therapy and hundreds of dollars. I cannot recommend Laurie and her process highly enough, it has truly changed my life!" ~ S.W.
"During the past couple of years I began to experience growing levels of anxiety that also significantly impacted my sleep and hence my day-to-day work performance and family relationships. I finally made an appointment with Laurie for traditional psychotherapy. A few sessions in, Laurie suggested that we try RTT. The results have been life-changing. Within a few weeks, I now sleep through the night, and even if I do wake up I am able to go right back to sleep. My anxiety, mood, motivation and all around quality of life have significantly improved. I would highly recommend Laurie and RTT for issues similar to mine and also other concerns that may be impacting your life. My only regret is that I waited so long to seek Laurie’s help." ~ J.A.
"Working with Laurie at Three Steps Forward has had an incredibly positive effect on my life; in fact, I would declare it to be transformative. For several decades, I struggled with relentless perfectionism & a hyper-achievement value system that intensified as I got older, causing intense, sometimes paralyzing anxiety; social alienation & feelings of disenfranchisement; loss of self-worth; &, episodic depression that would at times leave me bedridden. Such began to have a debilitating effect on my personal, familial,& professional relationships. While medication helped to assuage the physical symptoms of anxiety & depression, it could not relieve me of the compulsive negative thinking patterns & compulsive mal-adaptive behaviors that had been part of my life for so long.
Laurie's application of cognitive behavioral therapy & relaxation transformation therapy provided organic healing & relief from these issues & has given me a new lease on life. It has helped me to transcend an ego-centric interpretation of the actions of others; helped me to set realistic goals; renewed my empathic abilities & sense of compassion; helped me to develop self-awareness & reflective skills; & has changed how I approach that which I'm most passionate about.
My family, friends, colleagues & students have all been on the receiving end of this behavioral shift & their positivity is directed back to me, making me feel whole, complete & at peace."~ A.N.
"I have been dealing with depression issues in various ways including medication and nutritional therapy with mostly temporary results for the past 10 years. Through traditional therapy I had been putting the puzzle together slowly and had run up against a block - an inability to move forward in my life. I was experiencing more anxiety, depression, chronic pain and insomnia with a feeling of personal and professional paralysis I couldn't seem to get passed. I felt incapable of choosing a direction.
Through RTT with Laurie I have attained an overall feeling of calm, well being and happiness. I am letting go of the perfectionism, self-doubtandsecond-guessing. This has resulted in far less anxiety and insomnia and an optimistic outlook toward the future." ~ M.D.
